Sizes

The range starts with the Explorer 1908, at 190 x 125 x 85 mm inside, and goes up to long cases such as the 13527 and 15416, at 1350 mm and 1540 mm long inside. The model number is a quick guide to size. The first digits give the inside length in centimetres and the last two give the inside depth. So the 5117 is about 51 cm long and 17 cm deep inside (517 x 277 x 173 mm). Our Explorer size guide lists the inside sizes of every model so you can sort and compare them.

Uses

Explorer cases protect cameras and video kit, drones, electronics and precision instruments, tools, guns and outdoor gear. There are video and camera cases, drone cases, 19 inch rack cases and long gun cases, as well as the standard small, medium and large cases.

Protection and IP67

Most Explorer models are IP67 certified, which means they are dust-tight and protected against immersion in water to 1 m for 30 minutes. A few new HL models are still pending certification, and RED by Explorer gun cases are water resistant rather than IP rated. A sealing o-ring in the lid gives the seal, and a manual pressure release valve lets you even out the air pressure inside. Explorer cases are certified to resist temperatures from -33 to +90°C, and many models are listed to DEF-STD 81-41. Check the specification table on each product page for your model.

How to choose an Explorer case

1. Measure your largest item and leave room for foam or dividers around it.
2. Find the inside size you need in the size guide. Check the depth of the lid and the base as well as the total depth.
3. Choose the inside: empty, pre-cubed pick ‘n’ pluck foam, padded dividers, or custom foam cut to fit your kit.
4. For heavy or long kit, choose a model with wheels and a telescopic handle.

Are Explorer cases waterproof?

Most Explorer models are IP67 certified: dust-tight and protected against immersion to 1 m for 30 minutes. A few new HL models are still pending certification, and RED by Explorer gun cases are water resistant. Check the product page for your model.

What size Explorer case do I need?

Measure your kit, add room for foam, and then find the inside size in our size guide. The model number gives the inside length and depth in centimetres, so a 4820 is about 48 cm long and 20 cm deep inside.

Can I get custom foam?

Yes. Most cases come empty or with pre-cubed foam, and we can supply custom foam inserts cut to fit your equipment.
